Narciscissm and Sex Addiction Co-Occurence

What are NPD and sexual addiction?  Are they real?  And why do they occur together so frequently?

NPD
Narcissists are characterized by their overexaggerated sense of self-importance, insatiable focus on fantasies revolving around their self-perceived strengths, their complete lack of empathy for others, and their inability to recognize when they have acted in ways which are unacceptable or damaging to another person.

Sexual addiction
Sexual addicts engage in extreme lewd sexual acts, often perverted or against the standard cultural norms. Normal sexual interplay in the context of a caring, loving and monogamous relationship simply does not quench the insatiable drive they feel. They cannot control their urges.

Sexual addiction is often by defintion part and parcel of narcissistic personality disorder.

Why?

The interplay of narcissism and sexual addiction
The self-love of the psychopath narcissist prevents him from maintaining normal, healthy intimate relationships. His narcissism drives him to fantasies in which he is the center of focus, the king, the enabler of others. Normal sexual intimacy with his partner no longer satisfies him, and he makes his fantasies come true. Excessive porn consumption, perverted sexual acts with strangers, lewd sexual positions, multiple partners simultaneously, and ever-increasing risk become the only means to feed his narcissistic cravings.

The suffering inflicted by the psychopathic narcissist sex addict
Who suffers the most at the hands of the psychopath narcissist sex addict?

The person closest to him.

In most cases, this is his wife, girlfriend, or child.

If you are suffering mental and/or physical abuse from a psychopath narcissist sex addict, you should seek immediate help. Talk to your friends and family for their support, and consider professional treatment. You CAN be helped.
